For over a decade, the University of Manchester MUN Society has been at the forefront of fostering global citizenship, diplomacy, and political discourse. Established as one of the very first political societies at the University of Manchester, we've been at the heart of the vibrant student community for many years. From 2016 to 2019, we were voted the "Best Political Society," solidifying our reputation for excellence and dedication to promoting international understanding.

What is Model United Nations?

Simulation of Global Diplomacy

Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulated platform where students act as diplomats, representing different countries, and engage in debates and negotiations, mirroring real United Nations proceedings.

Debate and Resolution Crafting

Participants in MUN conferences discuss pressing global issues, exchange ideas, and collaborate to draft resolutions that propose solutions, fostering critical thinking and diplomatic skills.

Learning by Doing

MUN offers a unique experiential learning opportunity, encouraging participants to research, speak, and negotiate, improving their understanding of international relations, public speaking, and teamwork.

How Can You Get Involved?

Uni Student Sign Up

If you are a student at any UK-based University, you can sign up to be an associate member with our Students’ Union and proceed to register as any other UOM Student.

UOM Student Sign Up

If you are a student at the University of Manchester, you simply have to complete your membership on the Students’ Union Website.

Member Sign Up

If you are an individual who wants to be part of MUN, you can sign up to be an associate member with our Students’ Union and proceed to register.
